The factory that knits Jollie’s socks is a long term partner, allowing relationships to be built where Jollies can get a good understanding of social conditions. Jollie’s founder Ed Vickers visits the factory 2-3 times a year and enjoys speaking with workers. His last visit was September 2017.
Environmental impact and Materials
The use of organic cotton protects the environment and also farmers who may suffer ill health when coming into contact with the intensive fertilisers and pesticides used in conventional cotton production.
Nylon gives the socks a degree of stretch and durability. Whilst the production of nylon has significant environmental impacts we allow the use of high quality nylon in products where it is necessary for the function of the product.
AREAS FOR DEVELOPMENT
- It would be interesting to explore if alternatives to nylon exist.
