Ecoalf worked with the Footwear Technology Centre of La Rioja to create the first flip-flops made from 100% recycled materials. Two years of research and development produced a treatment capable of fixing the dust particles from recycled tires through pressure and high temperature, without using any adhesive or chemical substance.

The used tires are sourced from Signus, a not for profit initiative set up to ensure that used tyres are not seen as waste but rather a resource with value.
It is difficult to recycle tyres as they contain metals, antioxidants and fabric pieces. It took Ecoalf two years of R + D but the result was a process that separated the elements and created a clean powder that can be compressed into shape without any glue or chemicals.
- The straps are made from 100% recycled rubber.
- ECOALF has chosen to produce in the same geographical regions that the raw materials they use are recycled. This cuts down on C02 emissions from unnecessary transport.
