Description

This delicate graphic celebrates Spring and the return of nature's abundant months, its vibrant colours and good times. Meaning “not goodbye, but until we meet again”, the Aboriginal word “Yuwei” embraces the seasons of life - that many drift in and out of our circles, but we'll see each other soon.

Idioma, derives its name from the Spanish for language. Phrases from around the world focusing on freedom, exploration and nature adorn Idioma’s collection and are accompanied by playful illustrations.

Please note that each garment has a unique finish due to the nature of the stone washing process and so maybe slightly different from the images shown.

People

Idioma work with a sourcing partner that help emerging brands to source ethically and sustainably. The factory where this t-shirt is cut and sewn is located in Tamil Nadu, India and is visited regularly by the partner. All overtime work at the factory is voluntary and audits report that 60% of workers do not carry out overtime. Read the FWF report here.

Planet

The use of organic cotton (Global Organic Textile Standard-certified) protects the environment and also farmers who may suffer ill health when coming into contact with the intensive fertilisers and pesticides used in conventional cotton production.

The organic cotton this t-shirt is made from was planted and harvested by hand, in a region where cotton farming in predominantly rain fed.

Factory where the t-shirt is cut and sewn is powered entirely by renewable solar and wind energy (most of which comes from 30 massive wind turbines).

Areas For Development

Idioma's sourcing agent visits the factories producing their T-shirts frequently to follow up on corrective action plans from Fair Wear Foundation audit reports. Gradually increasing wages and reducing overtime are issues included in the discussions though they remain challenges to the factories.
