Lime China is a member of the BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative). Lime Aps, whom Lime China is contracted by, have formed a code of conduct based on UN and ILO (International Labour Organisation) conventions, and all factories they work with are required to follow it. This code requires all national laws and regulations to be adhered to, no slave, bonded or child labour to be used, no discrimination towards employees, the right to form unions and collectively bargain, fair non-abusive discipline, a safe and clean working environment, payment of the legal minimum wage or higher, sick leave, annual leave and maternity leave, and materials to be sourced and produced in a way that considers animal welfare and is not harmful to people or the planet.

KCA have personally visited their Chinese manufacturing partner. And the factory is independently certified by GRS (Global Recycled Standard) and GOTS (Global Organic Textiles Standard). Certifications such as these show that the supply chain has been audited against social and environmental criteria.

Recycled polyester is made from used plastic bottles, unusable manufacturing waste and worn-out garments. Finding innovative uses for disposable products reduces waste sent to landfill and avoids the need for virgin resources to be consumed.

Organic virgin cotton protects the environment and health of farmers from the damaging intensive fertilisers and pesticides conventionally used.

Country of origin

Fabric: China (GRS certified polyester and GOTS certified organic cotton)

Jacket: Cut and sewn in China by Lime China (GRS and COTS certified)

Areas For Development

GRS and GOTS requires only that national legal wage standards are met. We’d love to see KCA collaborate with an organisation like the Fairwear Foundation to advance the complex topic of a real living wage for garment workers.
