Description
A stylish overshirt works perfectly as that extra layer on colder days. KCA's overshirt is made from soft cotton corduroy, recycled polyester, and a touch of stretch for easy movement and a heavy yet classic look. The overshirt is designed in a regular fit with a classic collar, a chest pocket, and button closure. Nature loving Danish designers Knowledge Cotton Apparel make low impact clothing for both the hike and the bar after.

Suppliers long term partners
People
To ensure social responsibility, KCA establishes long term relationships with carefully selected suppliers. In addition to KCA’s own supplier visits, they rely on third-party certification. Social compliance is a part of GOTS that each production step in the supply chain must comply with. This gives KCA the opportunity to ensure that social standards are met throughout their supply chain and not only with their direct supplier.
In addition to GOTS, KCA seeks out suppliers that have been third-party certified by SA8000, BSCI and Fairtrade.
Planet
Organic cotton helps farmers escape the health risks and financial burden of toxic chemicals involved in conventional cotton production. It also helps wider communities by maintaining (rather than draining) the local water supply and keeping it clean.
Using recycled polyester has several environmental benefits. As traditional polyester is made from petroleum, using recycled fibres greatly reduces the fossil fuel-based inputs needed to manufacture polyester. Whilst also helping to divert old garments from landfills – in perpetuity! Compared to incinerating old garments and extracting and transporting virgin raw materials (oil and natural gas) using recycled polyester can reduce CO2 emissions by 71%. (Patagonia Common Threads)
Knowledge Cotton Apparel's second and third tier suppliers (fabrics and raw materials) are based in the same geographical region as products are cut and sewn. The reduces the carbon footprint of their products compared to other fashion supply chains where it is common for inputs to cross back and forth around the world.
Areas for development
GOTS living wage policy currently only requires that national legal standards are met. We’d love to see KCA collaborate with an organisation like the Fair Wear Foundation to advance the complex topic of a real living wage for garment workers.
