People
Made with fairly traded organic cotton sourced from small producers (typically with under 2 hectares of land).
Chetna Organic is a farmer owned co-operative that supports smallholders with technical expertise and higher prices for their cotton.
The Goodwill Fabrics group is a family-owned business with two weaving factories in Bhilwara and Gwalior in North India, and four garment factories in Bangalore, in South India. Goodwill employ around 2000 people and are committed to several certifications to ensure fair working conditions, including BSCI and SA8000.
KnowlegeCotton Apparel builds long term relationships with ethically certified factories. Their garments are GOTS certified which contains a robust social element that all manufacturers and processors throughout a products supply chain must meet.
Planet
Organic cotton helps farmers escape the health risks and financial burden of toxic chemicals involved in conventional cotton production. It also benefits wider communities by maintaining (rather than draining) the local water supply and keeping it clean.
KnowledgeCotton Apparel sources fabrics and raw materials from the same parts of the world as their clothes are cut and sewn. This lowers carbon emissions.

Areas for development
Becoming a Fair Wear Foundation member goes beyond auditing and gives brands an external framework to engage with social concerns on an even deeper level. That said, KnowlegeCotton Apparel's GOTS certification is a robust social standard that covers the entire supply chain.
