People
KnowlegeCotton Apparel builds long term relationships with ethically certified factories. Their garments are GOTS certified which contains a robust social element that all manufacturers and processors throughout a products supply chain must meet.
Planet
Flax (from which linen fibres are derived) is resilient and can grow in poor soil, using far less water in its cultivation than cotton. According to the European Confederation of Linen and Hemp, "Across its lifecycle, a linen shirt uses 6.4 litres of water" compared to 2,700 litres for a cotton shirt. (Good On You) Flax production also replenishes the soil with vital nutrients that are depleted by cotton.
KnowledgeCotton Apparel sources fabrics and raw materials from the same parts of the world as their clothes are cut and sewn. This lowers carbon emissions.
Suppliers

Areas for development
Becoming a Fair Wear Foundation member goes beyond auditing and gives brands an external framework to engage with social concerns on an even deeper level. That said, KnowlegeCotton Apparel’s GOTS certification is a robust social standard that covers the entire supply chain.
