People
Silverstick scarves are produced in a small family run factory just outside Nottingham, UK that employs 12 people and pays the living wage or above. The factory specialises in producing premium knitwear from natural fibres, including merino wool, British wool, organic cotton and Alpaca wool. Silverstick visit the factory on a regular basis and are really pleased with quality and working conditions.
Planet
Wool as a fabric is incredibly robust and long lasting. It is renewable and fully circular, being both biodegradable and easy to recycle. In comparison to synthetic fabrics, it requires less energy during production and less frequent washing during use.
Silverstick Cirrus scarves are made with wool sourced from non-mulesed flocks. The merino wool is sourced from the Punta Arenas region of Southern Chile where the blowfly that cause flystrike are not present and therefore the practice of Mulesing is not carried out.
The wool is coloured using azo and chlorine free clothing dye, in accordance with Õko- Tex Standard 100 and ISO 17050-1.
