People
Silverstick work with a fourth generation family run factory just outside Loughborough. They pay regular visits to the factory that knits their socks. They shared with us that working conditions are good and that the lowest paid workers receive the National Living Wage.
Planet
Organic virgin cotton protects the environment and health of farmers from the damaging intensive fertilisers and pesticides conventionally used.
Nylon gives the socks a degree of stretch and durability. Whilst the production of nylon has significant environmental impacts we allow the use of high quality nylon in products where it is necessary for the function of the product.
Areas for development
These socks contain nylon for stretch and durability. We allow for high quality nylon when necessary, however this material has significant environmental impacts. Brothers We Stand would like to see Silverstick use a more sustainable material when a suitable material becomes available.
