DESCRIPTION
The Pennine, our heaviest wool sock, keeps your feet warm wherever you roam. Made in Britain, these soft wool socks have a ribbed leg and a comfortable cushioned sole. The natural wool comes from sheep grazing on the Pennines and the colours are inspired by the hills throughout the seasons.
Using organic fabrics and sustainable dyes Silverstick are dedicated to making quality products that will stand the test of time.

People
Using heritage materials and supporting local trade, these socks are made from British wool, farmed in the Pennines in Northern England.
Silverstick socks are made by a fourth generation family run factory just outside Loughborough. They pay regular visits to the factory that knits their socks. They shared with us that working conditions are good and that the lowest paid workers receive the National Living Wage. The wool is Õko-Tex Standard 100 certified, meaning it was dyed without the use of harmful chemicals, instead using azo and chlorine free textile dye.
Planet
Wool as a fabric is incredibly robust and long lasting. It is renewable and fully circular, being both biodegradable and easy to recycle. In comparison to synthetic fabrics, it requires less energy during production and less frequent washing during use.
Silverstick socks are dyed with non azo dyes. Azos are a class of compounds used in textile dyes, some of which have been found to be harmful. Existing European legislation bans the use of these unhealthy azo dyes and all Silverstick clothing is certified azo and chlorine free, in accordance with Õko-Tex Standard 100 and ISO 17050-1.
Areas for development
These socks contain nylon for stretch and durability. We allow for high quality nylon when necessary, however this material has significant environmental impacts. Brothers We Stand would like to see Silverstick use a more sustainable material when a suitable material becomes available.
